The Water Authority of Fiji would like to advise that due to the continuous heavy rain and flooding in Rakiraki over the past few days, a landslide in Qalau has resulted in the failure of our DN 250 raw water rising main from Qalau Raw Water Pump Station to Bitutaralagi Water Treatment Plant from early this morning (09/02/22).
The collapsed raw water trunk main has forced our teams to switch off the raw water pumps at the Qalau Pump Station and as a result of this, there is no raw water inflow to the water treatment plant.
Our team has mobilised on-site to carry out the repairs early this morning, however, repair works are expected to take time due to the site’s condition and accessibility issues with the excavator which will be used for the repairs.
Water carting trucks are on standby and can be requested in case of an emergency by calling 5777 (all mobile networks).
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time supplies normalise.
