Public Advisory – Unplanned Water Disruption Notice

UNPLANNED WATER DISRUPTION NOTICE – LAUTOKA

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise our customers living in parts of Lautoka that they will be experiencing low water pressure to no water from this afternoon, Monday (10/01/2022), until further notice.

Customers residing in the following areas will be affected:
• Wairabetia Area
• Lauwaki Area
• Viseisei Back Road
• Saru back Road
• Wairabetia Muslim School Road
• Navula Area
• Saru Tawatawa Area
• Natabua area
• Field 40 Area
• Banaras
• Vuda Back Road
• Lawaki Settlement to Miki’s Supermarket

The interruption in supply is suspected to be the result of heavily clogged dam outlet screens or dislocated raw water trunk mains along the river crossings, resulting in no raw water inflow to the Saru Water Treatment Plant for production.

Our grounds team have been dispatched to Varaqe Dam this afternoon to carry out an assessment and undertake the necessary cleaning and repair works, in an effort to normalise the raw water flow to the Saru Water Treatment Plant.

The exact timeframe on restoration of raw water to the Treatment Plant and supply to the affected customers cannot be confirmed at this time due to the current weather conditions and high flood water levels along the 3 River Crossings to the Dam.

Customers in the above areas are kindly advised to store in their homes, while it is available, sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least 2 to 3 days and are requested to use water wisely during this temporary disruption period.

Water carting trucks are on standby to service the affected areas during the temporary disruption period.

WAF also encourages customers to invest in storage containers or water tanks connected to the water system for storage and backup supply during any unplanned disruption that may arise due to emergency works or natural disasters.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time supplies normalize.

For further enquiries, customers can call 3346777 and 5777 (Vodafone, Digicel & Inkk users) or email contact@waf.com.fj
