The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise customers living in elevated parts of Khalsa Road surrounding areas that they may experience intermittent supply of water at times from 8 pm to 4 am daily.
Affected Areas Include:
- Khalsa Road
- Tacirua Road
- Rokara Road
The temporary interruption in water supply is to allow WAF ground teams to carry out valve operations daily, to build water levels within the Upper Tovata System (Nagatugatu Reservoir, Tacirua Reservoir, Dokanisuva Reservoir & Colo-i-Suva Reservoir).
The valve operations are necessary due to the large customer demand within the reservoir zones and the dependency each reservoir has on each other as direct supply is not enough to meet the spike in demand during the day, the extra demand is to be supplemented through water stored in the above mentioned reservoirs.
Mid last year, WAF commenced the Rewa River Water Supply Project which when finished will supplement and boost water to the Suva-Nausori corridor which will cater for current demand and future growth.
The Authority advises customers residing in the areas above to use water wisely and to store water for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period.
Water carting trucks are on standby to service the affected areas during the temporary disruption period.
WAF urges customers to conserve and always store sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least two to three days in their homes at all times.
WAF also encourages customers to invest in storage containers or water tanks connected to the water system for storage and backup supply during any unplanned disruption that may arise due to emergency works or natural disasters.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time supplies normalize.
