As part of the Water Authority of Fiji’s ongoing efforts to improve the regular supply of water and reduce the risks of future disruptions, we are commissioning a new 1.6 Megawatt Generator at the Waila Water Treatment Plant – our largest water treatment plant – which supplies around 60% of the growing Suva-Nausori-Lami Area.
In order to ensure that our new generator works under all conditions, we are required to vary the load to the generator and as such, pumping will be disrupted for a short period.
This process is expected to take place on Friday, 9 April, 2021 and will result in reduced water flow to the Wainibuku and Raralevu Reservoirs.
Residents in the areas listed below are advised to prepare accordingly and to store a sufficient amount of water that will last them and their families for at least two to three days.
Affected areas include:
Nausori Town
Rewa Delta
Elevated areas of Raralevu
Nakasi
Davuilevu
Tovata
Kalabu
