The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) would like to advise our customers that we will be carrying out critical planned works on the Waila Water Treatment Plant between 5pm to 8pm on Friday 20th of January, 2023 which will result in a temporary shutdown of the Waila Treatment Plant.
The planned works will involve the disconnection and replacement of the existing 2 x 1.5MVa transformers with 2 x 2MVa temporary transformers as phase 1 of overall planned works to permanently replace the transformers.
These works are critical as the existing 2 x 1.5MVa transformers are over 30 years old and now past their design life, increasing the likelihood of failure which would cause a widespread shutdown should they continue to be operated.
The overall planned works will be carried out in 2 phases over a 30-day period and are scheduled as follows:Phase 1 – Friday, 20th January, 2023.Phase 2 – Thursday, 09th March, 2023.
The first phase consists of the Connection of 2 x 2MVa Temporary Transformers, while the second phase will include the connection and commissioning of the new permanent transformers.
As such, our customers in the Greater Suva-Nausori area may experience disruptions to their water supply ranging from low pressure to no supply during this time.
Customers are kindly advised to store when it is available, enough amounts of water in their homes to last for at least 2 to 3 days and are requested to use water wisely during this temporary disruption period.
Water carting trucks are on standby and can be requested in case of an emergency by calling 5777.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank our customers for their patience and understanding.
For further enquiries, customers can call 3346777 and 5777 (all mobile networks) or email contact@waf.com.fj
