Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) CEO, Mr. Barry Omundson has this week completed inspecting WAF sites in the Western Division.
Mr. Omundson was taken on a detailed site inspection and was briefed on water supply and wastewater services to Fijians in the Western part of Fiji.
“I now have a better understanding of our assets, people and their capability and capacity. It was an excellent inspection, and it gave me an opportunity to meet the workers on the ground stationed in depots, treatment plants and customer service centres around the Central/Eastern and Western divisions,” said Mr. Omundson.
“In terms of organisational culture and transforming to a utility of the future, we have much work to do, and while I am as yet to inspect our Northern division, in general I am heartened by our staff’s desire to improve not only themselves, but the services we provide.”
“Things get done through people, as a consequence improving culture will improve how and when things get done. Much of our static assets, like pump stations, treatment plants and pipes in the ground are quite old and as many of our customers would know, prone to water bursts, or blocked sewers,” Mr Omundson explained.
Building a great culture while improving our assets with a significant and ambitious capital program over the next few years, will go a long way to delivering upon our vision of Clean Water and Sanitation for a Better Life,” said Mr. Omundson.
