The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) would like to update our customers in Ba on the current status of our raw water intakes which had been impacted by the recent flooding.
Update #1: https://www.facebook.com/210726169050434/posts/pfbid021NhtrV1PRxJTLeJSVHzSY11o1aHnsmh6ZEAA4Mu2A5DuLK4mSXvPdYD47mG5YmH5l/?mibextid=Nif5ozRaw water inflow to our Waiwai WTP has been fully restored.
1. Waiwai Dam
The landslide along the access road to the dam has been cleared and the dam is now accessible. The #WAF team has cleaned the dam screen and Waiwai dam is in normal operations.
2. Varaciva Dam
Varaciva dam is still out of operation due to the DN 375 pipes being washed away at the last river crossing. The WAF team had tried to access the repair site yesterday but couldn’t do so as the flood water levels into the river was still high and it was still raining heavily. Repair works on this section of raw water main shall start once the access road especially damaged culverts crossing are repaired and flood water recedes. In the interim a temporary pump has been installed.
