The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has sent all non-essential staff home, as of 1 pm today, to allow them to prepare for Tropical Cyclone Yasa.
“Our hardworking and dedicated essential staff will be on duty 24/7 to assist Fijians however they can. This is a very severe cyclone and we are working around the clock to prepare for the impact on our systems,” said WAF CEO, Barry Omundson.
“We have sent all of our non-essential staff home early to ensure their safety and to make sure they have sufficient time to make the necessary preparations.”
The Authority urges all customers to stay safe during the cyclone and not to take unnecessary risks. Store 5 to 7 days worth of water to prepare for disruptions and boil all water coming through the taps after the cyclone, until otherwise advised.
