PUBLIC ADVISORY – UNPLANNED WATER DISRUPTION NOTICE – SUVA

LATEST UPDATE AS OF 6:30AM – Wednesday, 09th October 2019.

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is working to get water supply normalized to the elevated areas of Suva.

We have seen significant improvements in the levels of the treated water storage tanks at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

At midday yesterday (08/10) the inflow rate was critically low and treated could not sustain the demand, resulting in low pressure to intermittent supply to elevated customers in Suva.

As of 6:30am this morning (09/10) the inflow rate to the Tamavua WTP has improved and the treatment plant is treating at its normal capacity.

Meanwhile, customers are requested to store sufficient amounts of water, should the weather conditions deteriorate, low water pressures to intermittent supply may be experienced again.

The Authority will provide further updates as and when the need arises.

PUBLIC ADVISORY – UNPLANNED WATER DISRUPTION NOTICE – SUVA – 08th October, 2019.

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise its customers living in elevated areas in Suva that they will be experiencing low water pressure to intermittent supply from now until further notice.

Affected areas include:

  • Delainavesi
  • Lami
  • Samabula
  • Nailuva Road
  • Rewa Street

  • Ki Street
  • Ratu Sukuna Road
  • Howell Road
  • Fulaga Street

The interruption in water supply is due to low inflow from the Savura Pump Station to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant. This is due to the adverse weather conditions currently being experienced, causing high turbidity in raw water as well as suspected blockages at the Savura Pump Station.

The Authority is kindly advising its customers residing in the areas above to store and use water wisely for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period.

Customers are also requested to boil all drinking water.

Water carting trucks have been deployed to service the affected areas.

The Authority highly regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers.
