PUBLIC ADVISORY – UNPLANNED WATER DISRUPTION NOTICE – SUVA

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise customers living in elevated parts of Suva, Samabula, Delainavesi, Lami and parts of Veisari that the low to the intermittent supply of water currently being experienced is a due mechanical fault (bearing failure) to the raw water pumps at the Waimanu raw water pump station, which has resulted in the reduction of inflow of raw water being supplied to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

WAF ground teams are working to rectify the raw water pumps to improve the water levels at the Tamavua WTP.

The Authority advises customers residing in the areas above to use water wisely and to store water for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period.

WAF urges all Fijians to practice self-reliance and to have at least 2 days worth of water stored at all times.

WAF also encourages customers to invest in storage containers or water tanks connected to the the water system for storage and backup supply during any unplanned disruption that may arise due to emergency works or natural disasters.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time that water supplies normalise.
