The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) today (16/02/2023) entered into a ‘Master Collective Agreement’ with the Fiji Public Service Association (FPSA).
The agreement assures that both WAF and the FPSA commit to working with each other in good faith to maintain good industrial and harmonious relations.
WAF CEO Dr Amit Chanan said the signing marked a major milestone in the collaborative journey between the Authority and the FPSA over the last few months.
“I thank the FPSA for all the work that has been done in the past few months in making sure that the Water Authority of Fiji can provide a harmonious work environment for all our employees. The agreement that we have signed today will ensure that WAF continues to be a great employer that provides a great place of work for our hardworking staff,” said Dr Chanan.
FPSA Secretary General, Mr Rajeshwar Singh commended the WAF saying that the collective agreement is impressive and welcoming.
“The initiative that has been taken by one of the greatest Statutory Government entities, the Water Authority of Fiji and under the CEO’s leadership – You have done wonderful work, particularly in the area of ‘industrial relations’ and we had the pleasure of meeting with you and discussing and agreeing to things and the culmination of things today. This is a good sign for other Government agencies to take from here and it is a great time to be working collaboratively,” Mr Singh explained.
The signing of the agreement follows a Fiji wide consultation with WAF employees that saw the WAF Executive team travel to all major operational sites in late 2022. Based on this feedback, the WAF has approved a 5 per cent pay salary increase as of February 01, 2023.
