Public Advisory – Low Reservoir Levels – Wainibuku & Tovata Systems

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) would like to inform our valued customers within the following areas that low flows being experienced at the Waimanu and Waila raw water intakes are causing a reduction of production levels and is currently causing low levels to the following reservoirs.

Our teams have also identified air locks within the water supply systems and are working to eliminate it by progressively conducting flushing works. Areas that may be affected are as follows, and customers are urged to store sufficient amounts of water, while it is still available.

Tovata Reservoir No Water to Elevated areas – Upper Makoi, Kaliveitau, No Inflow to Nagatugatu, Veitata, Tovata Road, Qaranivalu, Lomalagi, Vula, Poorva, Sabera, Peela, Caubati Koro, Daniva, Cunningham (Valley Drive, Sulua Street, Makoi, Kaliveitau, Veitata, Niubalavu, Raikiwai, Niuvula, Niusawa Lane, Tacirua East (Tasman Tank), Cunningham, Khalsa Road.

Kalabu Reservoir

Low Pressure to No Water all feeding from Kalabu Reservoir – Valelevu, Caqiri, Nawanawa, Koka, Kinoya Road, Vasant Lal Vesivesi, Yasiyasi. Flagstaff Reservoir No water elevated areas – Allaydice, Domain, Upper Sukuna Road, Barret Place, Mcgregor, Knolly Street Tovata System

Nagatugatu Reservoir Low pressure to No Water all feeding from Nagatugatu – Wrong Turn, Sakoca, Upper Khalsa, Tacirua Heights, Nagatugatu Residents next to Reservoir.

Tacirua Reservoir Low pressure to No Water – All feeding from Tacirua Reservoir – Tamavua Koro, Upper Ragg, Deovji Street, Tacirua Bus, Amputch Street, Princes Road.

Dokanisuva Reservoir

No Water – All feeding from Dokanaisuva – Seventh Day Church Dokanaisuva to Tacirua Fijian School, Vunuleba Settlement.

Coloisuva Reservoir

No Water – All feeding from Coloisuva – Naisogo, Colo-i-Suva Crest Chicken, Princes Road, Marshall Road, Taqairua, Vunikawai, Uluibeka, Colanaivau, Valesasa, Naitaqiri Nillgrey.

Water carting trucks will be on standby and can be requested in the case of an emergency by calling 5777 (all mobile networks).

What is the process and fee for a new water connection?

How much is the Lodgment fee?

  • House under construction / Vacant land / Commercial or Industrial
    • $101.00.
  • Completely built house. – [Please provide a letter from the lands department and/ or completion certificate ]
    • $21.95. [Please provide a letter from the lands department. completion certificate or Stamped Statutory declaration on the completion of the house]

Processing Time

  • Inspection to Approval – 15 Working days from the inspection date.
  • Installation – 30 Working days from payment of New Connection cost, on a first-come, first-serve basis. [Stakeholder processing may cause delays]. *Note: Approval of installation is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

How much does the new connection cost?

  • Type A – $285 [“T” from existing connection] Type B $345 [direct connection from WAF main line]
  • New connection costs for Commercial and Industrial customers will be estimated according to requirements and a cost will be provided.
  • Road Crossing/ Service Enlargement is payable if required for additional meters requested. This will be communicated when the approval of internal and external stakeholders are obtained. WAF on behalf of FRA will refund any unused monies to the customer where applicable.
