The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) would like to advise members of the public that access to water initiatives continue to be available to assist low-income Fijian households.
The Authority understands that water is a necessity for life and, as such, there are Government-subsidised initiatives in place to assist families from low-income households to have access to clean and safe drinking water.
This includes new water meter connections from WAF water mains, which are already done at the minimum cost of $345, covering the basics which include the water meter, all relevant fittings, material, labour, and transportation costs.
For households with a combined annual income of less than $30,000, assistance is provided for new water meter connections by allowing customers to pay a 50% deposit, with the balance to be cleared within 3 months.
In addition to this, these households are eligible for the Free Water Scheme, where the Authority offers a free water allowance of 92,500 litres per year.
Any usage in excess of this will need to be paid for by the customer.
To access the Free Water Scheme, customers are required to provide the Authority with the following:
• Statutory Declaration Form
• WAF Customer Information Form
• Valid Photo ID
• TIN Letter or Joint FNPF/FIRCA Card
• Latest Payslip
• Free Water Usage Allowance Application Form
