The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) today (14/02) signed a contract with Fiji Television Ltd for a 3-year agreement for the rental of the Nakobalevu repeater station.
WAF CEO, Dr Amit Chanan said that the agreement enables WAF to manage its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system at the WAF National Control Centre (NCC) for controlling pumps, remotely controlling inlet valves, monitoring, and analysing treated water levels at major storage reservoirs around Suva.
“WAF is investing $4.6 million this year in the digital transformation of its operations. Continuing this partnership with Fiji TV will greatly assist us with this digital transformation.”
“We rely on the Nakobalevu repeater station for the functioning of our SCADA network. Our SCADA system aims to rapidly trigger a response for any anomalies before it becomes a bigger problem,” said WAF Manager Instrumentation & SCADA, Mr Terence Naidu.
Fiji TV’s Nakobalevu repeater station houses WAF’s repeater base station which communicates to 28 critical radio outer stations in the Central Eastern Region.
“This is an exciting moment for FijiTV – Pactok as we have been successful in providing a repeater service solution to WAF. This product will allow WAF to communicate efficiently across the 28 radio stations in managing a sustainable delivery of their services,” said Fiji Television Limited’s Acting General Manager, Ms Poonam Nandani.
