The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) Chief Executive Officer, Dr Amit Chanan, was recognised as an IWA Fellow by the International Water Association (IWA) during the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Toronto, Canada.
WAF Chairman, Ratu Savenaca Seniloli congratulated Dr Chanan on the achievement.
“This is a remarkable and impressive achievement for the Water Authority of Fiji and its CEO – WAF and Fiji is delighted to have a leader with his calibre and always striving for greater heights, all aimed at ensuring that the people of Fiji have proper water and sanitation needs,” expressed Ratu Seniloli.
The IWA Fellows recognition represents a high honour bestowed upon an individual by the Association. IWA Fellows are an esteemed group of global water professionals known for their expertise and leadership in the world of water science, technology, and management in the water sector as it continues to evolve.
WAF Director and former President of the Australian Water Association (AWA) Mr Graham Dooley congratulated Dr Chanan on this milestone.
“Over the past couple of decades, Dr Chanan has made significant contribution to the water industry in Australia, Fiji as well as across the Pacific. And this is a well-deserved recognition of his great work in moving the water sector forward” said Mr Dooley.
Being part of the IWA Fellows Community not only recognises the impact of particular individuals on the water profession and sector but also provides leadership and mentorship to a trans-disciplinary community empowered to combine various leading-edge scientific breakthroughs, technological developments and creative mindsets from the various IWA groups.
This recognition is based on peer recognition through a rigorous review of the past contributions to the sector and IWA, and for the nominee’s commitment to continued significant professional contributions in the future, by actively participating in IWA activities in promoting water sector at international, regional and national levels.
