The Water Authority of Fiji (‘WAF’) will be carrying out urgent high pressure pipeline replacement works on DN 300 inlet pipeline to Vuda Reservoir that has sustained damages and leakages along the Vuda River crossing.
WAF wishes to advise its customers that as a result of the pipeline replacement works, customers living in elevated parts of Lautoka listed below will be experiencing low water pressure to no water supply from 3.00pm Saturday (04/06/22) to 8pm Sunday (05/06/22).
Affected areas include:
•Dreketi Feeder Road
•Saweni Beach Road
•Navutu Industrial area
The pipeline replacement works requires the inlet to Vuda Reservoir to be isolated for a duration of 8-12 hours to allow leaking section of pipes to be replaced with new DN 300 flange to flange ductile iron concrete line pipes. As a result of this, the treated water supply to Vuda reservoir will be disrupted during the duration of pipeline replacement work.
In order to ensure minimum supply to the customers are maintained, WAF will be supplying its customers in Vuda zone with stored water from the reservoir during the pipeline replacement works; however customers residing in above elevated areas will be experiencing low pressure to intermittent water supply.
WAF would like to inform its customers that the pipeline replacement works are very critical at this stage to minimize risks towards major water disruption arising from leaking pipeline across the Vuda River giving up at any time and ensure supply reliability following the replacement of existing leaking pipes with new pipes.
Water supply to the areas listed above shall be progressively normalised by 8 pm Sunday (05/06/22).
Customers residing in the areas listed above are advised to store water for use during this temporary disruption period.
WAF urges customers to conserve and store sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least two to three days in their homes at all times. Customers are also encouraged to invest in storage containers or water tanks connected to the water system for storage and backup water supply during any unplanned disruption that may arise due to emergency works or natural disasters.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time water supply is normalised.
Water carting trucks will be on standby to service the affected areas during the temporary disruption period.
