Public Advisory – Unplanned Water Disruption Notice

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise our valued customers living in the following areas that they will be experiencing low water pressure to intermittent water supply at times during the day from now, until further notice.

As a result, customers in the areas listed before are kindly advised to store in their homes, while it is still available, sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least 2 to 3 days and are requested to use water wisely during this temporary disruption period.

Affected areas include:

▪️ Buabua and Naikabula Reservoir Reticulation

– Tomuka area
– Munsi Khan
– Naikabula area
– Buabua Road
– Vatamai Road and Vatamai Village
– High Pressure Line (Drasa Dam Road, Johnson Road, Tropik Road)

▪️ Qalitu Reservoir Reticulation

– Teidamu area, Matawalu Village
– Naviyago Village, Vitogo Village
– Vitogo Paipai Road, Kings Highway from Vunato to Teidamu
– Lovu Hart, Lovu Seaside
– B.S. Charan Road, Ajan Road, Vatulau Road
– Choy Gopal Road, Vunato Settlement

The interruption in supply is due to low water levels currently being experienced at Buabua, Naikabula and Qalitu Reservoirs, as a result of low raw water inflow from Nalau and Buabua Dam due to clogged dam
outlet screens.

WAF crew members had been mobilised to the site this morning to clear the clogged screens, however due to high flood water levels and strong currents, the team cannot undertake the cleaning works.

Our crew will mobilise to the area affected by the blockage to clear the dam screens when the flood water recedes and it is deemed safe to do so.

We will be working to restore the water supply to affected customers as soon as the raw water inflow to the Buabua Water Treatment Plant fully normalises and the reservoir levels recover to effective operating levels.

Water carting trucks are on standby to service the areas as and when the need arises.

For water carting requests members of the public are to contact our National Call Centre on 3346777 or 5777.

We highly regret and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

For further enquiries, customers can call 3346777 and 5777 (Vodafone, Digicel, and Inkk users) or email
