UNPLANNED DISRUPTION NOTICE
The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise its customers living in the following areas that they will be experiencing low water pressure to intermittent water supply periodically during the day from now until further notice.
The interruption in supply is due to low water levels currently being experienced at Buabua, Naikabula and Qalitu reservoirs as a result of low raw water inflow from Nalau & Buabua Dam resulting from clogged dam outlet screens.
Affected areas include:
Buabua & Naikabula Reservoir Reticulation
• Tomuka area
• Munsi Khan
• Naikabula area
• Buabua Road
• Vatamai Road & Vatamai Village
• High Pressure Line (Drasa Dam Road, Johnson Road, Tropik Road)
Qalitu Reservoir Reticulation
• Teidamu area, Matawalu Village
• Naviyago Village , Vitogo Village
• Vitogo Paipai Road , Kings Highway from Vunato to Teidamu
• Lovu Hart, Lovu Seaside
• B.S. Charan Road, Ajan Road, Vatulau Road
• Choy Gopal Road, Vunato settlement
WAF crew members had mobilised to the site this afternoon to clear the clogged screens, however due to high flood water levels and high current, the team cannot undertake the cleaning works. Our crew will mobilise on site to clear the dam screens when the flood water recedes and once it is safe to do so.
The Authority will be working to restore the water supply to affected customers as soon as the raw water inflow fully normalises into Buabua Water Treatment Plant and Reservoir levels recovers to effective operating levels.
Water carting trucks are on standby and can be requested in case of an emergency by calling short code 5777 (all mobile networks).
Customers are kindly advised to store in their homes, sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least 2 to 3 days and are requested to use water wisely during this temporary disruption period.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time supplies normalise.
