The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise our customers that due to algal bloom (microscopic plant life) and increased turbidity (dirt in water) in the raw water catchments, the filters at our Waila Water Treatment Plant have been clogged, causing a reduction in water production.
This will result in our customers feeding from the Waila Water Treatment Plant to experience low water pressure to intermittent supply until further notice.
Our team is currently undertaking operational works to remedy the issue, through additional filter backwashing and increased chlorine pre-dosing, until the water quality fully normalises.
Customers are therefore kindly advised to store in their homes, sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least 2 to 3 days, while reservoir levels are healthy, and are requested to use water wisely during this temporary disruption period.
Water carting trucks are on standy and can be requested in case of an emergency by calling shortcode 1507 (all mobile networks).
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time supplies normalise.
For further enquiries, customers can call 3346777 or short code 5777 (all mobile networks) or email contact@waf.com.fj
