The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise its customers living in Baulevu and Raralevu that they will be experiencing low water pressure to no water from 10 pm tonight (02 January 2021) to 5 pm Sunday (03 January 2021).
This is due to critical repair works that need to be conducted at the Raralevu Reservoir.
Affected areas include:
- Baulevu Road
- Kasavu
- Lakena
- Vunivivi
- Raralevu
- Namata
- Naila
- Mokani
- Cautata
- Vatoa
- Waicoka
- Bau Road
The unplanned works are to allow WAF ground teams to carry out urgent repairs to a defective 450mm valve for Verata Wailevu and Maumi, which has been causing water disruptions.
By isolating this piece of defective infrastructure and undertaking repairs, we will be able to restore water in this wider area and ensure greater stability in supply for our customers.
This defective valve, which will be repaired this evening, is one of the reasons water supply has not normalised for Cautata, Ovea, Lakena and Vatoa.
To ensure our customers have access to clean and safe drinking water during this temporary disruption, we have deployed 6 water carting trucks across the affected areas – 2 in a sweep of the Sakoca Elevated Areas, 2 water carting trucks working in Cautata, Vatoa and Ovea, and 2 for Lakena.
Water carting trucks are on standby to service the affected areas during the temporary disruption period, please call us on 3346777 or shortcode 5777 if you require water carting assistance.
Water supply will be progressively restored to affected areas by 5 pm Sunday (03 January 2021).
WAF urges customers to conserve and always store sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least two to three days in their homes at all times.
WAF also encourages customers to invest in storage containers or water tanks connected to the water system for storage and backup supply during any unplanned disruption that may arise due to emergency works or natural disasters.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your understanding and patience until such time supplies normalise.
