The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise its customers living in elevated areas of Buabua in Lautoka that they will be experiencing low water pressure to intermittent supply at times during the day from now until 12am Friday (20/12).
Affected Areas Include:
Buabua Reservoir Reticulation
- Tomuka area
- Naikabula area
- Buabua Road
- Vatamai Road Village
- High Pressure Line (Drasa Dam Road, Johnson Road, Tropik Road)
Qalitu Reservoir Reticulation
- Teidamu area, Matawalu Village
- Naviyago Village , Vitogo Village
- Vitogo Paipai Road , Kings Highway from Vunato to Teidamu
- Lovu Hart, Lovu Seaside
- B.S. Charan Road, Ajan Road, Vatulau Road
- Choy Gopal Road, Vunato settlement
The interruption in supply is due to low raw water inflow from Nalau and Buabua Dams resulted from by clogged dam outlet screens causing low water levels at Buabua and Qalitu reservoirs.
WAF crew members are currently at the dams with an effort to clear the blockages in order to normalize supply to the Buabua Water Treatment Plant as well as the affected service reservoirs.
Water supply is expected to be normalised by 1am Friday (20/12)
The Authority is kindly advising customers residing in the areas above to use water wisely for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period.
Water carting trucks are on standby to service the areas as and when the need arises.
