Wainibuku Restoration Update 3/5/21
The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) would like to advise our customers that restoration of the unplanned disruption, caused by the landslide at the Wainibuku inlet yesterday (2/5/21), is still underway at this stage. Fortunately we have been able to reactivate partial supply through a single main thus far.
Our teams are continuing with repair and restoration works as quickly as possible, bearing in mind safety concerns from both COVID-19 and the on-site hazards of a major landslide.
Although water is being progressively restored, repairs and recovery are still ongoing. Restoration of water to some areas at this time does not mean that works are completed, and repairs will continue well into tomorrow and beyond.
We kindly ask customers in the greater Suva area to help us, and other customers, by using water sparingly during this time so as not to strain the system, since it is still operating at a reduced capacity.
At this time supply is being progressively restored to the following areas:
- Davuilevu
- Parts of Nakasi
- Narere
- Parts of Makoi
- Parts of Nadera
- Nepani
- Nadawa
- Dibulu and the Rewa Delta
- Nasole
12 Water Carting trucks have been mobilised to service the affected areas so far.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time supplies normalise.
