Public Advisory – Planned Water Disruption Notice – Nausori – 30.12.20

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise its customers living in the whole of Rewa Delta, Tailevu South, and Nausori Town till Baulevu, that they will be experiencing low water pressure to no water from next week 9pm Friday (08 January 2021) to 5pm Saturday (09 January 2021).

Affected areas include:

  • Dilkusha Road
  • Davuilevu Theological College
  • Muana, Navatuyaba, Toga, Rewa
  • Nausori Village
  • Nausori Town
  • Lakena Road
  • Verata Wailevu
  • Kasavu – Baulevu
  • Buiduna & Irrigation
  • Raralevu, Namata, Maumi Village
  • Vuci Road, Vuci South, Vusuya Road & Naduru Road
  • Vunimono, Nadali, Bau Road, Nausori Airport & Naselai
  • Naduru, Molituva Village
  • Burebasaga, Nakaile & Natogadravu Village
  • Tikina Bau
  • Tikina Nakelo
  • Tikina Tokatoka
  • Nasilai, Vadrai, Muanaira, Kiuva, Vatani & Dromuna
  • Tikina Noco Rewa

The planned works are to allow WAF contractors to carry out connection works on the new DICL 600mm to the existing 450mm mPVC water main near the Rewa Bridge.

These works are part of WAF’s actions on improving water supply to the Greater Suva – Nausori corridor and links to our new Rewa River Water Supply Scheme due for completion in March 2022.

Water supply will be progressively restored to affected areas from 5 am to 5 pm Saturday (09 January 2021).

Water carting trucks are on standby to service the affected areas during the temporary disruption period.  WAF urges customers to conserve and always store sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least two to three days in their homes at all times.  

WAF also encourages customers to invest in storage containers or water tanks connected to the water system for storage and backup supply during any unplanned disruption that may arise due to emergency works or natural disasters.

What is the process and fee for a new water connection?

How much is the Lodgment fee?

  • House under construction / Vacant land / Commercial or Industrial
    • $101.00.
  • Completely built house. – [Please provide a letter from the lands department and/ or completion certificate ]
    • $21.95. [Please provide a letter from the lands department. completion certificate or Stamped Statutory declaration on the completion of the house]

Processing Time

  • Inspection to Approval – 15 Working days from the inspection date.
  • Installation – 30 Working days from payment of New Connection cost, on a first-come, first-serve basis. [Stakeholder processing may cause delays]. *Note: Approval of installation is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

How much does the new connection cost?

  • Type A – $285 [“T” from existing connection] Type B $345 [direct connection from WAF main line]
  • New connection costs for Commercial and Industrial customers will be estimated according to requirements and a cost will be provided.
  • Road Crossing/ Service Enlargement is payable if required for additional meters requested. This will be communicated when the approval of internal and external stakeholders are obtained. WAF on behalf of FRA will refund any unused monies to the customer where applicable.
