The Water Authority of Fiji wishes to advise its customers living in the following parts of Sigatoka areas that they will be experiencing low water pressure to no water at times during the day from Friday (04/05) to Sunday (06/05).
AREAS AFFECTED INCLUDE:
• SIGATOKA AREAS
(Laselase-Olosara DMA, Korotogo DMA, Rakirakilevu-Kulukulu DMA, Lawaqa DMA, Naidovi DMA)
The purpose of this disruption is for cleaning of the Sedimentation unit No.2 in Matovo Water Treatment Plant.
The Sedimentation unit No.1 was cleaned on 20th April 2018 with similar disruption notice while unit No. 2 was in operation that allowed WAF to maintain 70% of the production level. The Sedimentation unit No.2 will be cleaned in the same manner as this unit is also filled with mud as a result of recent flooding and needs to be cleaned in order to maintain a steady water supply. In addition, the Master Meter Installation works in the pumping main will also be carried out in parallel to minimize numbers of disruptions.
Both works are expected to be completed by 5 pm on Friday (04/05).
However, supply is expected to be gradually restored from Friday afternoon up to Sunday morning (06/05).
Customers residing in the areas listed above are advised to store enough and use water wisely for their immediate needs during the period.
For water carting requests members of the public are to contact the Authority’s National Call Centre on 3346777 or 5777. Water carts will be on standby to service the affected areas as and when the need arises.
The Authority highly regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers.
