Suva, Fiji – September 24, 2024 – The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) Board has resolved to award the Performance-Based Contract (PBC) for Non-Revenue Water (NRW) to Miya.
Non-revenue water (NRW) or water loss is water that is produced but is lost due to leakage thus not contributing to any revenue.
In making the announcement, WAF Board Chairman, Ratu Savenaca Seniloli thanked the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) for their technical support and financial assistance for this project. The Performance-Based Contract will focus on reducing water loss in the Suva-Nausori Region.
“This is WAF’s flagship response strategy to address current high levels of water loss of 49%. This will increase the level of service to customers, ensuring adequate pressure and sufficient quantity. This the first-ever Performance Based NRW contract in the Pacific, making it a leading example of bringing cutting-edge water expertise to the region,” Ratu Seniloli explained.
WAF has a total of 1,200km length of mains and 73,000 customers within the Suva- Nausori system.
Miya is a world-leading efficiency-oriented company with vast experience in water loss reduction projects globally. Miya currently services across all five continents through various engagement models to millions of people.
A key feature of the five-year program includes capacity building for WAF staff who will be trained in best-practice water loss reduction.
