The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is working to normalize water supply to the residents of Navua. WAF General Manager Customer Services, Sekove Uluinayau said that the water pumps in Navua are currently out of order and WAF crew members are working to get the water pumps back in operation. “Two out of four borehole water pumps are in operation, while the other two are being repaired. The Nayagi District Metered Area (DMA) is at critical level as the reservoir level is at 1.81metres. The third water pump was rectified yesterday afternoon, however, this has little to no impact on water flow rate as the internal structures of the borehole had collapsed,” explained Mr Uluinayau. Mr Uluinayau said that WAF will be working with the Mineral Resources Department (MRD) to explore options of re-drilling. The affected areas are as follows:
- Navua Town
- Naitonitoni
- Naitata
- Queens highway from the Navua Bridge to the Nasasa junction
- Sadro Road
- Wainidova Road
- Vunibau & Deuba village
- Vakabalea Road
- Busa Road
- Nasasa Road
- Viwawa Road
Mr Uluinayau said that water carting trucks have been deployed to cart water to the residents of Navua who have been affected. The Authority is kindly advising its customers residing in these areas to store and use water wisely for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period. The Authority highly regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers. For further enquiries, customers can call 3346777 and 5777 (Vodafone, Digicel & Inkk users) or email contact@waf.com.fj
