The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) in its efforts to increase customer awareness on the value of water during World Water Day on the 22nd of March 2019, took time out to educate and inform a total of twelve participants which were made of residents, Turaga ni Koro’s, and Advisory Councilors in the Western Division, who took part in the ‘Water Champions Program’.
The participants were taken on a full day educational tour beginning at the Vaturu Dam, in the highlands of Nadi, the Nagado Water Treatment Plant as well as to the Natabua Waste Water Treatment Plant in Lautoka.
WAF Regional Manager West, Mr Romulusi Mataitoga thanked the participants for taking their time out to learn more about how the Water Authority operates.
“It is good to see the leaders in our communities such as the District Advisory Councilors and the Mata ni Tikina’s as well as the Turaga ni Koro’s to know and witness what is actually going on at the Water Authority of Fiji. You have been to our source (Vaturu Dam) and to the Water Treatment Plant (Nagado WTP) where they treat and disinfect, I hope you were able to grasp the value of water and your attendance today is a big achievement for the Water Authority and we hope that you will pass on the message – the importance of water conservation,” said Mr Mataitoga.
