The Water Authority of Fiji has activated a centralised contact point where the public can send direct queries or concerns to for a quick response.

This comes as the Category 3 Tropical Cyclone Keni intensified over the main island of Viti Levu gradually moving down south, as WAF reminded the public to store back up water as well as boil all drinking water.

So far 40 percent of water has been restored in Labasa, with 27 trucks continuing to supply affected areas while in Seaqaqa, water supply sits at 70 percent.

In Savusavu and Taveuni supply has been fully restored. Meanwhile, as TC Keni was expected to bring with it more torrential rainfall leading to more flooding, WAF has temporarily suspended water carting in Ba, Tavua, Lautoka, and Nadi.

In Kadavu strong currents has forced a shutdown of the supply system there as engineers wait for waters to also recede.

The Ba, Nadi and Lautoka wastewater pumping stations remain fully operational for now.

WAF Chief Operating Officer, Samanmal Ekanayake says they are fully aware that the status of their assets could change according to the intensity of TC Keni and if that happens, adjustments will also be made accordingly.

WAF officials will continue to closely monitor the status of all their catchments. In the meantime, water carting trucks remain on standby and will be dispatched as soon as the weather clears.

For water carting requests, WAF requests members of the public to contact its National Call Centre number on 5777 or 3346777.
