The Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services, and Transport, Hon. Ro Filipe Tuisawau this morning (18/05) addressed the members of the newly appointed WAF Board of Directors, who had their first meeting following the announcement of their appointments.
Minister Tuisawau reminded the members of the Board of the importance of their roles and responsibilities.
“I would like to re-emphasise today the need for us to make progress on improving water services, as quickly as possible – I know the challenges are there. I have been briefed by the previous Board members and also the CEO and his team about some of the infrastructure issues and the water situation. I look forward to you as the new Board to progress the completion of critical projects like Rewa River Water Supply on time and deliver on the Vision and Mission of the Water Authority of Fiji as well as our Strategic Plans,” explained Hon. Tuisawau.
In response, acknowledging the Hon. Minister’s remarks, the newly appointed WAF Board Chairman, Mr Savenaca Seniloli thanked the Minister for addressing the new members and reminding them of their critical roles.
“To my fellow Directors, I look forward to serving alongside you all as you bring a unique set of talents and relevant expertise as we guide the WAF Management into this journey. As representatives of the Governing and Executive Board of the Water Authority of Fiji, there are high expectations and accountability required, especially from stakeholders and customers alike.”
“I wish to remind all of you of the statement by the Hon. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in announcing our appointment, he expects us the Board, to immediately on the critical issues that WAF continues to face and work closely with the Government and key stakeholders,” said Mr. Seniloli.
Mr. Seniloli acknowledged Minister Tuisawau’s comments on the ability to be open to feedback.
“It is very encouraging, Sir, that you mentioned about being open to feedback. We are here to help each other. We understand that WAF has its fair share of Strategic challenges. With every challenge there lies an opportunity to learn, to grow, and through this a mindset of continuous improvement, with this mindset starting from this group and the management, we will lift the Water Authority of Fiji to greater heights,” Mr. Seniloli added.
The newly appointed Directors Amit Singh, Vula Vakacegu, Semi Leiwere, Graham Dooley, and Mele Rakai were taken on an induction session which was followed by their first-ever Board meeting.
