MEDIA RELEASE: WAF TO CONDUCT WORKS TO IMPROVE WATER SUPPLY TO CUSTOMERS IN NAUSORI

Customers living along in areas from Nausori Town end (Rewa Bridge) towards to Bau Island, Kiuva and Naselai will experience low water pressures to intermittent supply from 6am to 6pm on Sunday 23rd December 2018. WAF General Manager Customer Services, Mr Sekove Uluinayau said that the interruption in supply is to allow crew members to carry out urgent maintenance works to the water pumps at the Waila Water Treatment Plant. “Based on recent water flow monitoring readings, the pumps are suspected to be partially blocked by debris which is resulting in the reduction of water flow from the Treatment Plant to the Raralevu Reservoir, this has prompted WAF to undertake these works urgently and to carry out these works we will have to temporarily shut down these water pumps.” “During this disruption period, customers in the Nausori Town Central Business District (CBD) and Dilkusha to Toga-Nagavoka will not be affected,” said Mr Uluinayau. Meanwhile, Mr Uluinayau said that customers are also advised that WAF will be commissioning the duplicated 375mm pipeline which is approximately 630metres in length from the Waila Water Treatment Plant to Duilomaloma Road early next year.  “The commissioning works are scheduled to take place on 6pm Saturday, 5th January 2019 to 6am Sunday, 6th January 2019 and restoration works are expected to begin soon after from the commissioning works to 6am Monday, 7th January 2019,” said Mr Uluinayau. Mr Uluinayau said once commissioned the new pipeline is expected to boost water supply into the Nausori Water Supply system. Mr Uluinayau said that the Authority wishes to also advise its customers residing in the areas listed below to store sufficient amounts of water and use water wisely for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period. “Water carting trucks will also be on standby to service the areas as and when the need arises and the Authority highly regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers,” said Mr Uluinayau. For further enquiries, customers can call 3346777 and 5777 (Vodafone, Digicel & Inkk users) or email contact@waf.com.fj More updates will be made as the situation improves on the ground.
