The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) will carry out emergency repairs tonight (09/02) to two fire hydrants which have been damaged by certain individuals who have illegally accessed the hydrants to fill water.
The Authority reiterates and strongly urges Fijians to refrain from illegally opening or tampering with fire hydrants on road sides, as this disturbs the Authority’s water supply restoration efforts to Fijians in the remaining disrupted areas and can even prolong the disruption period.
Repairs to the two hydrants is scheduled to start at 10pm tonight (09/02) until repairs are completed.
Therefore, water supply will be temporarily disrupted to Fijians living along mid-section Nailuva Road off Rewa Street as well as Fijians living in Moli Place off Ratu Dovi Road.
The Authority is kindly advising its customers residing in the areas mentioned above to store and use water wisely for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period.
Meanwhile, the water restoration coverage still stands at 95%.
Water trucks are being deployed to the remaining impacted areas to provide relief to Fijians.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Fijians can contact WAF’s National Contact Centre on 334 6777 or 5777 or toll-free helpline on 1507 for water carting services.
