WAF UPDATE: Denarau Road Repair Status ReportThe Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) would like to provide an update to those affected by a burst sewer main on Denarau Road, as well as members of the public, on the repair works conducted.
After the completion of repairs at 3:30pm yesterday (21/02/2022), the pressure line was engaged by turning on the pumps at Regent Pump Station at 4:00pm.
The weakened AC Main caused a hairline fracture on the main 2m away from the repaired portion at around 4:30pm.
WAF maintenance teams reassembled at 5:00pm to attend to a hairline fracture caused by a weakened main, with work being delayed till 8:00pm due to heavy rain.
A full length of AC Main was cut out and replaced with a full length of MPVC pipe with 2 Supa Coupling and the works were completed at 1:22am this morning after which the contractor carried out backfill, compaction and reinstatement.
The Regent Pump was then turned on at 2:00 am, and as of this morning, has continued to operate without any sign of burst at any other location on the rising main.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding and patience until our teams carried out the repair works.
