The temporary interruption in water supply is due to low raw water inflow from the Savura and Waimanu Raw Pump Stations to Tamavua Water Treatment Plant as a result of the prevailing weather conditions causing high turbidity levels.
Due to the heavy rains, the multiple water flows into our treatment plant carry heavy sediments, this adds to the challenge we have to safely filter and treat water. So just because it rains heavy, this does not mean we have more water. The quality of the water is always paramount, and we thus do not send poor quality water to our customers, the Authority continues to ensure the safety of water meeting World Health Organisation (WHO) standards.
WAF Engineers and Technical Teams are working to maintain operations at the pumping stations and treatment plants to sustain water levels in service reservoirs.
The Authority advises customers residing in the areas above to use water wisely and to store water for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period.
Water carting trucks are on standby to service the affected areas during the temporary disruption period.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and we seek your understanding and patience until such time supplies normalize.
