The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise customers in the Suva-Nausori area that due to the current dry spell being experienced, the Waimanu River is starting to have low levels of water which may impact water supply.
Until water levels normalise, this will have a ripple effect on water supply as production is dependent on raw water intake, especially from the Waimanu River and the receding levels will affect pump operations.
The raw water from Waimanu River supply the Waila Water treatment plant and when water levels drop below 0.8m, pumps are progressively switched off to maintain safe levels in the wet well to continue operations.
Customers are advised to be prepared for intermittent water supply and possible water disruptions by storing enough water for use while it is still available – at least 2 to 3 days worth of use.
We also ask customers to practise water conservation while we wait for the water levels in the Waimanu River to reach healthy operational levels.
Our water carting trucks can be requested in case of an emergency by calling 5777 or via our WAF App.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience and understanding.
For further enquiries, customers can call 3346777 and 5777 (all mobile networks) or email contact@waf.com.fj
