Fijian Government’s vision is to provide access to clean and safe drinking water to 100% of Fiji’s population by 2021.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Disaster Management & Meteorological Services, Hon. Jone Usamate, in saying this opened the new Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) Suva Express Center.
“This Government is a government for all people. We prioritize and ensure to remove barriers when it comes to serving the needs of our citizens,” Minister Usamate said.
“To ensure maximum customer service delivery, WAF has allocated a total amount of $8.5 million for this financial year out of an overall operations budget of $102 million.”
Minister Usamate said that WAF is also aiming to uplift its customer services by opening these centers in areas where there is high population density.
“This center is an example of that approach where WAF moves closer to pockets of high customer density, which is commercial, institutional and residential customers collectively.”
He added that customers had to go to the WAF national Office based at the Centre point prior to this new development.
“The establishment of this customer service express center provides convenience and accessibility which in turn allows WAF to service its customers better. This is all part of the expanding and improving WAF’s services to the people of Fiji, “ he said.
