The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to clarify a Fiji Sun article (page 3) titled ‘Water spill along Fletcher Road?’, which was published on Tuesday (11/5/21).
The Authority would like to correct the statement made by the Suva City Council (SCC) in the article, saying that the leakage was from a leaking water pipe.
Upon inspections, an on-site test was carried out by WAF’s National Water Quality Laboratory technicians which verified that no chlorine was present, confirming that the water is not from a WAF water pipeline.
Our teams have also spoken to a resident in the area who said that the spill was due to storm water coming from Semi Buadromo Street (uphill), with the flow increasing during heavy rain, and decreasing to nil flow during dry weather seasons.
