The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) wishes to advise its customers living in elevated areas of Buabua area that they will be experiencing low water pressure to intermittent supply from now until 8:00am Monday morning (18/03).Affected Areas Include: Buabua Reservoir Reticulation

  • Tomuka area
  • Naikabula area
  • Buabua Road
  • Vatamai Road & Village
  • High Pressure Line (Drasa Dam Road, Johnson Road, Tropik Road)

Qalitu Reservoir Reticulation

  • Teidamu area, Matawalu Village

  • Vitogo Paipai Road, Kings Highway from Vunato to Teidamu
  • Lovu Hart, Lovu Seaside
  • B.S. Charan Road, Ajan Road, Vatulau Road
  • Choy Gopal Road, Vunato settlement

The interruption in supply is a result of suspected blockages at the intake screens at the Buabua and Nalau Dams, this is due to the recent heavy downpour received in the dam catchment for the last two days which is continuing to restrict flow of raw water supply from the Dams to Buabua Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

The reduction in raw water supply from the two (2) dams has contributed to reduction in water production and drop in levels at clear water reservoir at Buabua WTP and service reservoirs in the supply zone listed above.

The Authority is currently working to rectify the issue and water supply is expected to be normalised by 8:00am Monday, 18th March 2019.

The Authority is kindly advising its customers residing in the areas above to use water wisely for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period.

Water carting trucks are on standby to service the affected areas as and when the need arises.

For water carting requests members of the public are to contact the Authority’s National Call Centre on 5777.

The Authority highly regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers.
